7th chapter 3 less 3 PPT
Hello 7th graders,
Please make sure that you are reviewing lessons 1 and 2 on a daily basis. For lesson 3, you will need to review Muhammad's role in establishing and spreading the religion of Islam (lesson 2). As you begin reading the lesson, think about what Muhammad's followers might do after his death and whether Islam will continue to spread.
The key terms for lesson 3 are : caliph, council, Shiite, and Sunni.
Objectives:
-explain the origins of the caliphate, describe how the Muslim empire expanded under the first 4 caliphs, and describe the issues that divided the Islamic religion.
